(Art)ificial

Thanks for coming to see my recent works. I believe that play and creativity are at the very core of who we are. Sometimes I combine those things together to make a thing we call “Art”.

A wise man once said to me “Maaaannnnn, Jacob…there was a time when what we made wasn’t called ‘art’…it was called MAGIC.”

I like to think about it that way now.  (Thanks, Lightnin’. I miss you, my friend.)

Art and magic are both important elements of play. Play is an important element of who I am.

That is what this show is about. I set out to play by leaning in hard to the interesting experiences of my last decade on this planet. These objects are the result of that endeavor.

Really truly playing as an adult is a very vulnerable thing to do. This work manifested laughter, joy, loss, tears, frustration, and eventually… peace.

I hope you like what you see. I hope it feels as playful for you as it does for me now.

If you have read this far, please also know that I accept all forms of barter in exchange for my art. Money is cool, but I want everyone to have a little magic if they want it. Money is not an obstacle to that. Don’t hesitate to ask for a thing if you want it. We’ll figure it out.

Thank you for being here and seeing the inside of my head. It means a lot.
